ESO 101: Elizabeth Faulkner
Meet Elizabeth Faulkner, frequent ESO guest player for the past 20 years. Elizabeth is a piccolo and flute player who has previously been the Acting Principal Flute and Acting Assistant Principal Flute for the ESO. She likes lasagna, the Edmonton Oilers, and spending time with her teenage sons.
When was your earliest recital and what did you play?
First year post-secondary school: I played compositions by C.P.E. Bach, Martinů, Bartok, and Doppler.

Three.

What is your pre-concert ritual?
Stretching and breathing exercises.
What is your favourite sports team or player?
The Oilers.
How many different cities have you lived in?
One.
What is your favourite city (or a country) you’ve travelled and why?
I don’t have a favourite city, but my favourite area is Yellowstone Park. The colours and textures of the geysers, etc. are fascinating.
Do you have a nickname?
My husband calls me flute butterfly.
What is your favourite orchestra other than the ESO?
Berlin Philharmonic.
What do you do in your free time?
Play games and chat with my teenage boys.
What food would be on your rider as a rock star?
Lasagna with a lot of veggies.
